Brakes

Are you planning a summer road trip, and you can’t wait to get started? Have you already got your car loaded down, but as you pull away from the driveway, you notice your brakes aren’t really working like they should?

Your brakes are one of the most important safety features on your vehicle, and having reliable brakes is the only way you should feel confident about getting on the road. Here are a few signs you need to have your brakes replaced before your next road trip:

1.  Grinding & Growling – When you press on the brake pedal, does it sound like a monster is going to crawl up from the floor board to attack? This is usually a good indicator that your brakes may need some attention.

2.  Pulling to One Side – As you are driving down the road and you apply the brakes, does your vehicle pull to one side of the road or the other? Sometimes this can indicate a wheel alignment issue, but your brakes are attached to your wheels, and getting these checked is an important step.

3.  Worn Brake Pads – One obvious thing to check for is wear on your brake pads. If you’ve got a lot of miles on your vehicle already, replacing your brake pads will help to ensure your safety as you take a long drive.

4.  Vibration – That shimmy you’re feeling isn’t your imagination. If your car seems to vibrate all over, especially as the brakes are applied, you need to have them checked out right away.

If you put off getting your brakes looked at by a professional, you may find yourself wondering if your brakes will even work. At Kevin’s Car Repair & Body Shop LLC, we’ll be happy to look at your brakes to make sure you’re ready for any summer travel.
